Frustration, anxiety and other fun stuff

<Sigh>

The last week has been very busy to say the least.  We finally have a confirmed travel date (Oct. 12) so we have been doing more packing, sorting, and garbaging of our treasures.  A very loose definition of treasures most of the time.  This whole process makes me want to live in a tent for our next house.  Maybe the Harry Potter tent from the Deathly Hallows movie.  That would be pretty cool.  But on to the update.

Frustration - We didn't realize that we had to inventory our entire shipment, add a dollar amount to each item, and get the itemized list approved before we schedule the movers to come and pack on Monday.  Lori realizes this yesterday morning at work.  So she comes home, we inventory and POOF - the itemized inventory is done.  At 10 minutes to midnight.  And of course we forgot to inventory the jacket closet.  I hope they don't lose the crates.

Anxiety - This may be a long paragraph so I will just hit the lowlights.  We received confirmation that Karl was accepted into school option #3.  Option 1 is a highly rated school right next to our house - slim chance of him getting in right away.  Option 2 is one of the top 400 schools in England - ditto on the slim chance but wouldn't that be a great experience for him?  Option 3 is not as highly rated but we did tour it and felt comfortable if that is his school.  That may require us to get a second car if our appeal to the closest school does not come through.  All three schools will require uniforms - I can't wait to see his face when we go uniform shopping.

No word on Kalle's schools yet which is frustrating, disappointing and all full of anxiety.  Especially after Lori contacted the Derby City Council and found out they hadn't even started applying for her schools yet!  Plus it may take 2-3 weeks to get a school confirmed.  Not encouraging news.  We did tour option 2 for Kalle and liked it so we will have to wait and see.

No house renters yet.  We are going with a rental management company to minimize our head aches while we are across the pond.  The company just dropped the price so maybe that will generate more interest.  Hopefully we will get good renters for us and our Brownsburg neighbors.

Kids will be done with school Monday or Tuesday with us leaving Wednesday afternoon.  Hard to believe they have been in school two  months already.  At least Kalle was able to be in Mrs. McMullen's class a little.  We really liked Mrs. Smith and Mrs. McMullen so Kalle not having Mrs. McM for two years was definitely one of the negatives of the move.

This weekend's activities - a little packing, final furniture hauling to storage (thanks Frank), sleepovers for the kids, and cookouts with the neighbors and family.  Another busy weekend but we can see the end now.  A few people have asked me if I am excited yet.  Short answer is no, still to much work left.  Ask me when we are sitting on the plane taxiing down the runway at Chicago about to lift off on a two year adventure.  That will be exciting.

The fun stuff - I am retired!  Not officially but last Thursday was my final day working here in Indy.  No work prospects over there yet, I will keep y'all posted.

Thanks for listening,
Jay
